Hi! My name is Jenny. Does your preschooler need extra help in learning their ABCs, numbers, colors or shapes? Can they write their name clearly? Can they read 3 letter words yet? Is your child in elementary school (ages 6-9) & they are having trouble with their handwriting or they need extra help in reading, spelling & math? Well, I can help your child improve in these subjects. My husband & I live in Santa Fe, TX. We have a small 2 bedroom house & I've turned one bedroom into a preschool room. I have LOTS of preschool curriculum & I love making new things to teach with. I can easily think of new ways to teach a child using the same curriculum. I also enjoy helping the older kids in their school work. Sometimes kids need extra encouragement & a patient adult that is willing to sit with them & help them with their assignments. My philosophy with teaching is to challenge a child. An unchallenged child can get bored & if they get bored they are most likely to misbehave in school. If they understand one concept then great! Move on to a higher leveled concept, regardless of age. If they aren't ready to progress then that's ok too. An overly stimulated child can misbehave too. Example of a teaching concep for the preschooler: if your child can trace their name then teach them how to write their name by showing them how to write each letter by following your finger with their pencil. Once they can do that, let them write their name by themselves. Example of a teaching concept for a preschooler: if your child can recognize the ABCs, if they can write the ABCs, & they know the sounds each letter makes, then they can begin to write 3 letter words by sounding out the letters as they write. I enjoy teaching kids! I love seeing them achieve a task that seemed to be difficult at first. I also love seeing the children teach a class mate what they have learned from me! I've been teaching at our house since 2009 when I became a listed family home. I used to co-teach at daycares & at a private school but there's too many students per teacher. I wanted to teach a small group of kids instead so I stepped out & decided to start my own Christian preschool at our house. I can teach only 3 non-related kids at our house at a time so space is limited (listed family home rules). My hours: 7am-6pm M, W, F. On Tuesdays & Thursdays I can tutor from 7am-2:30pm. For the preschooler I can do an academic evaluation on your child once they are enrolled with me which will show me if they can recognize their ABCs, numbers 0-10, 11..., basic shapes & basic colors. I can also see if they can write their big & little ABCs & if they know the letter sounds & if they can write their own names. We can then talk about ways that I can help your child. I advise to teach your child at least 3 days a week. Your child will be able to retain more if they are here more often. I hope to hear from u soon!
