Tutor in Portland, Maine

I'm an
Individual
I've been a tutor for four years, helping students from elementary through graduate levels. My expertise is with studying skills, test preparation (SAT), and proofreading for high school and university students. I can help you achieve the top grades in your class. My tutoring approach is individualized based on the student's needs. I value trust, communication, goal setting, supporting your progress, and making the tutoring experience both productive and enjoyable. In terms of studying skills, I like to first focus on developing habits to ensure an optimal mindset. This includes an organized schedule with "time chunking," optimized sleep, hydration, energy, focus, and "power foods" for the brain. I also prioritize creating an ideal environment, including music and eliminating harmful electromagnetic fields. Clearly, I include some "alternative" approaches, which, depending on the student, may also included "energy medicine", yogic breathing to oxygenate the brain (which stimulates the same memory enhancement effect as so-called "smart "), applied meditations to enhance brain development and memory, and other techniques to optimize your experience whether studying, in school, at work, or throughout life. One of my goals is to greatly enhance your studying "toolbox" based on recent scientific studies, to give you significant advantage. My expertise also includes advising and guiding students using ADVANCED studying skills, including lucid dreaming (being awake in your sleep to facilitate skill development) and using the "memory palace," an ancient memory visualization technique described in the great book, Moonwalking with Einstein. I can also tutor in advanced meditations. For example, one of the most relevant and profound is plugging into the "mind at large" (collective consciousness) that enables "subliminal uprushes" which psychologists use to define the phenomenon of "GENIUS." This expanded consciousness can be a powerful experience. I love that the dictionary defines education as an "enlightening experience," and I fully embrace this ideal. My academic and life experience reflects my enthusiasm and qualification for tutoring. In high school, I was a C-student until my junior year when I realized the importance of striving for excellence. This attitude opens up doors for incredible life experiences. I immediately became a straight-A student and I carried this drive and dedication on throughout my university career. I graduated in the top 1% of my class, summa laude ("with highest honors"), at CU Boulder in 2007 in political science and environmental studies. In law school, I achieved the top grade in multiple classes and passed the Bar Exam without taking a Bar review course (another 1% phenomenon). I wrote an honors Masters thesis on health care law and nutritional science. I've worked as an editor for and published in peer-reviewed law journals and I'm publishing book reviews for university texts in peer-reviewed academic journals. I'd love the opportunity to be your tutor to help organize and strategize for a standardized test or whatever subject that's giving you a difficult time. Whatever you need, I'm confident that I can help. Best / Cheers, Erik
