I'm an
Individual
I am seeking to tutor children preschool through high school. I am a writer myself and freelance copyeditor in addition to being formally trained in Montessori early childhood education through 1st grade, plus have additional experience in Montessori elementary education. I own the hands on Montessori materials used for math and english for preschool and elementary students. Although I do work with high school students as well, here is more information about Montessori and elementary education. I specialize in helping young children and learning disabled students read more fluently. MATHEMATICS Children learn addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using concrete materials to perform the different operations. The hands on materials allows them to gain a real understanding of what each operation means. Math is taught using a variety of materials. Students learn how to solve problems using the appropriate materials and they learn to record their results. Repetition is very important, and students will be able to use a variety of materials for similar operations. Writing starts the movable alphabet letters.  Children learn one, two, and three syllable words by doing multiple exercises presented in a variety of lessons that allows for the necessary repetition.   Grammar is taught with specific colorful geometric shaped symbols that will help imprint the grammar concepts in a concrete way.  The different parts of speech concepts are presented in dramatic key lessons, students learn the function of each part of speech in a fun and memorable way. Word study and mechanics is taught using the Montessori Skyscraper.  Word study is done with different activities using labeled cards that students can match to create compound words, suffix and prefix words, and also matching activities for antonyms and synonyms, homophones and homographs. Mechanics is learned through activities with labeled cards students learn when to use capitals, periods, apostrophes, commas and quotations. Students will be able to practice alphabetization and classification, how to use guide words for research, how to use a dictionary and a thesaurus. Videos: https://....com
