I was inspired to offer my services as a tutor when I left my teaching position as a public school 6th grade teacher. I put my skills and passion to work in the public school classroom for four years before I realized that public education is not a good fit for me. I've also come to find that public education is not a good fit for many students as well. I left public teaching with a dream to one day start my own school in which children have the freedom to use their own interests, skills, and knowledge to set learning goals. Children would have the opportunity to work with a mentor to design their own path of learning to achieve goals and acquire skills that are tailored to their specific needs and desires. What better way to start my own journey to achieving this dream than to start offering my services as a tutor and mentor? I am open to working with students from various backgrounds, educational settings, and challenges. All students deserve an opportunity to learn and grow starting from where they are as learners, and be an active part of the growing process. Pricing: The first two tutoring sessions are free. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to get to know me a little better and ask any questions you might have. I take the time to learn as much as I can about your child from the both you and your child. I will do an evaluation of the child's strengths and areas of struggle. After this initial aspect of the process, I will work with your child to design a learning path and set goals. After the first two sessions, I will operate on a sliding scale of $30-$50 per hour.
