Tutor in Akron, Ohio

I am a current full-time educator teaching first grade and I am available to tutor students entering grades K-5. I hold a Master's degree from Kent State University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English/Language Arts. My certification is PK-5, with an additional K-12 Reading Endorsement. I have taught grades K, 1, and 4, and have also worked as a reading intervention teacher for grades K-5 and as a private tutor. Under the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System, I am rated "Accomplished" on performance-based standards and "Most Effective" on student growth measures. I have been trained in Leveled Literacy Intervention, a research-based program that accelerates students' achievement in reading. This past school year, my students blossomed as readers and writers and made an average of over 1.5 years of growth in reading. In addition to my professional experience, I have served as a volunteer teacher and tutor in multiple subjects for a youth organization, designing and implementing engaging curriculum that accelerated students' growth, sparked curiosity, and nurtured inquisitiveness. I would relish the opportunity to use my skills and experience to help your child hone math skills, develop confidence as a writer, and/or improve in reading and fall in love with books. I am also open to providing academically enriched child care over the summer.
