My name is Cat Carter, I am a recent Tulane University graduate. I am a classically trained mezzo soprano, receiving my Bachelor's in Music; I intend to obtain my Masters in Music Education at University of Georgia. I graduated with a 3.5 GPA and have had extensive training/experience with classical, musical theater, and jazz vocal repertoire, both at Tulane and for approximately a decade prior to attending Tulane. I am extremely well-versed in my knowledge pertaining to Music Theory and Western European/American Music History. I received A's in Tulane's 1000-400... level Musician Labs (rhythm reading, sight singing, transcribing melodies/4 part harmonies via listening, including atonal music, etc.); A's in Harmonic Analysis, 18th/19th Century Tonal Analysis, and 20th century Tonal Analysis (analyzing scores harmonically, melodically, rhythmically, etc. per the composer's intentions and then writing essays explaining these compositional elements); A's in History of European Music To AND Since 1800 and American Music Since 1600 (historically analyzing the significance of shifts in musical stylizations and artists' relationships to historical events); A's in Choir, Musical Theater Workshop (all 3 semesters), all fundamental acting courses and all fundamental dance courses; and constant A's in Voice, a course I took with the same fantastic professor every semester. Prior to attending Tulane, I had a wonderful AP Music Theory teacher at Woodward Academy named Stephen Rotz, who provided me with the solid and extensive foundation I needed to succeed as a Music Major at Tulane. I received a 5 on the AP Music Theory exam. I take pride in being very music theory savvy.. I would like to tutor any and all high school/college students in the northern Atlanta area who are looking for help in Music Theory; I am specifically referring to AP Music Theory but can also more than adequately tutor those in need of help for more difficult courses, such as 18th-20th Century Tonal Analysis, or simpler courses such as Music Theory Fundamentals. I will be charing $10/hr. I intend to pursue Music Education after I finish my Masters, specifically to teach Voice, Musicology, and Music Theory at a university or high school, as well as to direct my own choir. I am a trained singer, who has taken voice lessons from two very well-esteemed teachers (Michael Monroe and Amy Pfrimmer) for the past 13 years, whom I respect tremendously. I take my training very seriously and a firm believer that proper technique is the key to success if one wishes to sing his or her whole life. My range is slightly over two octaves, ranging from a low G flat to a high A. I am looking to teach voice for 30 mins/1 hr. to those of any age in the northern Atlanta area! Specifically, I am looking to teach FIRST AND FOREMOST proper technique, which will allow one to sing richly and beautifully in all ranges in a HEALTHY manner for as long as one lives! I am most knowledgable in the realms of Musical Theater, Classical & Art Arias, and Female Jazz solos, but have rather extensive experience with Church music and Pop music as well. I owe my philosophy of vocal technique entirely to my wonderful teachers, and if you work with me, you will be extremely satisfied with the vocal growth we will make together For this, I will be charging $10/30 mins and $15/hr.
