I have a Master's in Education from Bank Street College and have been teaching students for over 15 years. It is always a joy to watch students reach their full potential. I believe that every student CAN succeed if given the right tools and guidance. I started my career in education as an English teacher, but then went on to serve as the Education Director of a private learning center where I assessed students, developed individualized learning plans for them and watched them soar. I worked with students in grades K-12 on reading, writing and math skills and then became a trained SAT instructor as well. I've both taught SAT classes, large and small group and tutored students individually for the SAT with a focus on testing strategies, math skills, reading and writing. I've done the same for the ACT, and the SHSAT and ISEE. I also believe strongly that all students can experience academic success in school and that tutoring students is not just about helping them past an upcoming test, but about meeting them where they are and motivating them to reach their goals. I've successfully tutored students in math, Spanish, ESL, writing and study skills. I've recently begun teaching Lego robotics and coding which has enhanced my teaching practice. I'm flexible with my time and will offer make-up sessions in the event that a student needs to cancel and can meet students at their home, school, or a nearby library.
