Having difficulties with your college science courses? A few tutoring sessions could get you back on track, boost your confidence and increase your GPA. The lessons and skills that I will teach you will not only help you with the class that is currently giving you difficulties, they will be applicable to the rest of your education. I am a PhD student at UIC and I do biological research at the Field Museum. I have 10 years of experience in teaching biology courses at the University of Nebraska and University of Illinois at Chicago. I have tutored for ACT and SAT prep for a few education companies and have done one-on-one tutoring for TRiO at Iowa Western Community college. Although my main area of expertise is biology, I also have tutored college students in: -chemistry -physics -geography -geology -earth sciences -basic algebra How does this work? First of all, we will have an initial phone call where we discuss the subject(s) that will be covered, the amount of time we will spend and the price. I will provide a resume and list of references via email so you can verify that I am who I say I am. If everything sounds good to you, we will decide on a place to meet and have our first session. I prefer to meet for an hour or two in libraries or coffee shops, but I can always make exceptions. At the first session I will ask you lots of questions to get to know you and to see what it is that is holding you up. Once we get to know each other, we will get to work. I can help you with understanding concepts, homework assignments and test prep. Most importantly, I will help you develop a study strategy that suits you. Many of my students have met with me only a few times and then they didn't need me anymore because all they needed was to figure out the strategy that works for them.
