My name is Gus and I'm going into my senior year at Stony Brook University. I've tutored math to all levels from early elementary school to fellow peers in college. I'm passionate about math and enjoy explaining how pure and interesting it can be if it's taught the right way. For this reason I've noticed that I've had a lot of success with helping younger children comprehend math. I've always tried finding ways to make math fun and entertaining for my students. There's a common notion of math being "boring" and I enjoy showing people that it's not so bad and even better, that it always makes sense. I have a very outgoing and easy-to-talk-to personality and I try to mirror that in my tutoring by keeping my teaching environment very casual and conversational rather than stern. I'm down to earth and I understand what it's like to think that you have no chance of ever learning a certain concept. I try to make my students feel comfortable about not understanding a concept because that leads them to be more prone to asking questions which in turn accelerates their learning. I also try to get to know my students personally so that I can figure out the best way of explaining things to them that most appropriately coincides with how they think. Aside from my teaching methods, my experience in mathematics includes all high school and college math up to Calculus IV, as well as Linear Algebra and Statistics. My accomplishments in my learning of math include a 790/800 on the SAT math section, and a mastery of mathematics on my High School Diploma.
