Hello, my name is Jackie. I worked in a writing center through college, where I earned my bachelor's degree in creative writing and Asian studies. At the writing center, my job was to assist students with writing their papers from the beginning stages, such as brain storming and ideas all the way through to the end, where I served as a helpful copy editor. I have helped students with sentence syntax, grammar, trying to say what they mean and helping them round out ideas into a sensible essay or story format. I have traveled to different countries, where I have gained first-hand experience with what it is like to learn a language in a conversational setting, and I have spent many hours volunteering to teach ESL. I have excellent communication skills and I am patient with finding new ideas for ways to teach ESL so that my students grasp concepts. I do not move on to new lessons until my students are comfortable with what we're covering. I enjoy tutoring and I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals of learning English and mastering writing. I care to see my students succeed and feel confident in their work.
