These groups will receive a larger 'discount' depending upon the location of the session. Introduction: I provide chemistry tutoring primarily to college/university students, 'post bac's', graduate students and occasionally high school students for a highly competitive rate and with a highly dedicated approach that is energetic and flexible! I am trained as a an organic chemist but after receiving my Master's degree I taught chemistry in college for 5 years while in Charleston, SC. I moved to the Atlanta area approximately a year ago and have been tutoring full-time with students in the Atlanta area including: at Georgia Tech, Emory University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, Georgia Perimeter College and Atlanta Technical College. Philosophy: I strongly believe in a interactive learning environment. It is important for the student to be engaged throughout the lesson to avoid the teacher 'talking at the student'- which sadly happens far too often in the classroom and even in 1 on 1 tutoring sessions! I enjoy watching the light bulb 'go off' in students heads- and utilize my experiences and resources developed in the classroom in my tutoring sessions to generate a personalized educational composite for each of my students. It's easiest to help students succeed if they start early- this is the most painless way for each of us but commonly students don't reach for help until panic mode is reached. Regardless, I have achieved results in both circumstances. Understanding where a student is coming from is very important to understand their motivations/goals in the class. Many students desire a post graduate degree to become, M.D.'s, P.A.'s, Pharm.D.'s etc if they are majoring in the sciences. B/c of this their grades in courses such as organic/ gen chem, physics, genetics and biochem are highly pertinent to them! I get this and understand that you don't wanna be a chemist- and I'm OK with that. I am here to help you 'get through' this class but I also will try and do this in a way that will help you later. I am saying that I want you to learn the fundamentals of the course- I promise it will make it easier! Trust me it'd what you pay me for! In summation the interaction of students & tutoring is a professional yet personal one- and is very similar to coaching or even 'educational consulting'- as a result this line of work is very often rewarding. I hope to work with you in the near future on attaining your educational goals!
