Tutor in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Hello! In my pursuit of a masters degree in mathematics, I have found that a strong grasp of math can improve everything from logical reasoning to problem solving to decision making. Developing strong math skills during middle school or high school will be a lifelong asset that will help the student in virtually every area of life. Through tutoring with the University of Alabama student organization called Bama Tutors for Service, a position as a teaching fellow at the competitive summer academy Breakthrough Birmingham, and experience as a mentor at an AP Chemistry summer institute, I have developed a wide array of skills that prepare me to provide excellent tutoring services to your student. I am especially well-equipped to tutor high school math, from Algebra 1 to Calculus: - Currently pursuing an MA in mathematics from the University of Alabama. - Earned college credit through the AP BC Calculus program in high school. - Cumulative 4.0 undergraduate GPA while earning a BS in Mathematics. - Experience tutoring high school math in Tuscaloosa. Additionally, I am prepared to provide tutoring in a number of other areas: - Served as an 8th grade science teaching fellow for Breakthrough Birmingham, a competitive summer academy. - Volunteered as an AP Chemistry mentor for Impact Alabama's CollegeFirst summer institute. - Pursuing a second major in philosophy. - Earned AP credit in chemistry, literature, and writing. - Earned the distinction of National Merit Scholar through success in the PSAT and SAT. - Earned a score of 35 on the ACT. After graduating college, I aim to complete a teaching residency in high school math and eventually attend law school. I am also deeply interested in philosophy, I serve as the editor-in-chief for an undergraduate law review, I have excellent research and writing skills, and I am happy to offer help with college as a part of working as your tutor. My qualifications and achievements throughout high school and college, coupled with my knowledge of and experience with teaching, especially in one-on-one settings, allow me to offer excellent tutoring services for your high school student in a wide array of academic areas. Please reach out with any questions regarding subject areas or experience - I hope to work with you soon! **Clarifying note: I am pursuing my BS and MA in mathematics concurrently; philosophy is my second major for the BS. I have yet to earn any college degree.
