Tutor in Brooklyn, New York

I recently moved to New York to begin my PhD program in Chemistry at Hunter College and Sloan Kettering and decided to start a tutoring business on the side. I have a BS in Chemistry from BYU-Idaho. I tutored at my undergraduate university for 3 years and enjoyed working with students one on one and in small groups. My teaching method is more interactive than a traditional lecture. I want my students to build models, draw diagrams, and explain principles back to me during lessons so I can be sure of their understanding and progress. I also have some research experience that provides me with a unique perspective of the chemical sciences. I currently work in Dr. Dixie Goss's lab at Hunter and collaborate with Ruben Gonzales's group at Columbia working on smFRET studies of an RNA virus's translation initiation mechanism. I'm looking for students who would want to meet once or twice a week for 30min-1 hour lessons after I'm done working in the lab. If you're preparing for a chemistry course, MCAT, or just want to know more about how awesome chemistry is I would be happy to help out. I charge 40$/hr I usually finish in lab around 5 and am free on Saturdays.
