Whether you are completely new to chess or play regularly with your friends, we all have room to improve because chess is such a deep and fascinating game. Chess is so deep in logic and critical thinking in fact that in all of its time of existence it is only recently that masters have made any groundwork on the theory of chess. This is great news because it is now easier than ever to learn how to beat your friends! You don't have to be a genius to play a good game of chess, others have done all the legwork so you don't have to! Everything has been broken down into easy to understand concepts and I'm here simply to help you navigate your way through the ins and outs of chess. I hear some of you asking, "Why should I learn chess?" Besides just being fun, competitive chess is an engaging way to practice skills such as visualization, memory, attention to detail, long periods of concentration, and critical thinking, that is to say, when you improve at chess you are actively challenging your mind in these different areas of thought strengthening them in preparation of frequent use, like exercise does for your body; chess is exercise for your brain. Furthermore, chess makes you look smart - trying to impress an employer? a school? your friends? People naturally associate chess with smart, making it sure to impress employers, schools, and peers alike! I've been a chess instructor for almost a year now at Orlando Chess Academy and have plenty of experience teaching kids and adults about what it takes to play chess competitively whether you would like to use that knowledge to start playing in chess tournaments or if you just want to casually destroy your friends in a game a chess, I'll teach you the strategies that chess masters use every game to give themselves the advantage. My price point is $15 for the first lesson and $25 an hour for all lessons after that. I will take students of any age and skill even if you don't know how to move the pieces yet, but I recommend that if you already have a USCF rating of 1300 or a rating equivalent to that, let me know and if nothing else I can connect you with other coaches willing to work with you. My residence is located in Oviedo but I am willing to travel to meet you and will provide a board and pieces if necessary. If you are interested and would like more information or have any questions, please call or text me and if I miss your call please leave a text message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
