Tutor in Santa Cruz, California
Has your child expressed an interest in learning about computer programming? Want to give your child the opportunity to try something challenging with a one-on-one tutor?
I have experience teaching children ages 8-16 about logic flow and the organization of a computer program. Under my guidance, students have successfully created basic interactive games, videos and text programs using Scratch (ages 8-12) and Java (ages 13-16 ). I have over 5 years of experience working in children's summer camps and have been teaching programming for a little under 1 year. I have worked with the Girl Scouts of America, iD Tech (the world's leading computer programming summer camp), FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) and FLL (FIRST Lego League).
Although I have worked less with adults, I am more than happy to help anyone who wants to learn about computer logic!
I begin by introducing my student to programming using Scratch. I provide basic exercises that gradually increase in difficulty until the student is able to create basic games or interactive videos. I work at the student's pace, giving them challenges to overcome based off their skill level and experience.
