As a retired teacher in Sacramento, California, it is my passion to instill confidence in students of all ages as they learn to master the English language. For 8 years, I taught primary grades during which time I developed many English and writing lessons. My specialty is teaching essay and story writing to primary and middle school students, having designed lessons that simplify the process of taking notes and organizing ideas.. After teaching primary grades, my husband and I founded a prvate school with grades K-12. Being aware of the value of writing skills, I taught writing classes to every grade, and today two of my students are authors, and one is a well-known editor. While teaching at our school, I became proficient at individualizing each lesson to meet the student's particular learning style. The skills I teach build one upon the other, so while students learn to write sentences, paragraphs, and essays, they are also learning literacy, grammar, reading, and vocabulary skills. Currently, as a retired teacher and administrator, I am tutoring children and adults so that they will have confidence in communicating through speaking and writing. My greatest joy is in working with students of all different ethnic backgrounds. In fact, for the past 26 years, my husband and I have been helping the Asian people in our community while my husband pastors the Thai Christian Church in Sacramento. We have two adult children and ten grandchildren who are homeschooled, so I have had many opportunities to tutor my own grandchildren. I am always looking for new ways to share the lessons I have designed in order to give students a firm foundation in Language Arts.
