I am a professional tutor with over ten years of experience teaching and tutoring. I specialize in preparation for standardized entrance exams such as the SAT, ACT, GRE and GMAT as well as those for private school admissions. I have a BA in Philosophy and a BA in Anthropology from UT Austin, and have finished all coursework for a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology at Indiana University. I worked for years for other tutoring and test preparation companies before deciding to start my own. I do in-home, one-on-one preparation, or can conduct a class for more than one person in your home (which reduces the price.) I work during the day for Educational Testing Services (the people who write the SAT exam and several others) and for Pearson (the ACT folks), scoring student essays online. I am not a "part timer" or new to the workforce, I began teaching in 1993 as an Associate Instructor in Anthropology at Indiana University, and have devoted my life since then to teaching. Since my strength is in standardized tests, I specialize in that area, but also tutor most core courses for high school juniors and seniors and college freshmen and sophomores. I also teach a course in Speed Reading/Study Skills that improves not only speed but reading comprehension, and reduces drastically the amount of time students spend doing homework while improving their grades. I'm easy to get along with and enjoy teenagers/young adults, and try to keep the classes fun and interactive. My prices for in-home test preparation are significantly lower than those of the large multinational companies. I work in the entire DFW area, from DeSoto to Denton.
