I earned a Bachelors of Science from the University of Oregon in biology, with a minor in biochemistry. I graduated in the top 5% of my class. I had an area of focus for my major of molecular biology and have worked scientific jobs for the last three years. I have been involved in many research projects from three different labs at the University of Oregon. I also was a McNair Scholar and and had my research published in my school's McNair Scholar's Journal. I was a teaching assistant for general biology classes for years. I enjoy helping students understand science. Science can be very difficult but with a little bit of help anyone can master it. This in turn benefits everyone as all society benefits from more people understanding scientific subjects. I have taken many molecular biology classes, lab classes, biochemistry classes, all the general science classes, many terms of calculous and some anatomy and physiology classes. I currently am a lab manager and post-bacheluratte researcher in a biochemistry lab at the University of Florida Medical School. So I have a lot of real life science experience and teaching experience that I want to use to help students any way I can. I am a very active person and enjoy many outdoor activities. I like hiking, running, surfing, swimming, and talking about science. I also enjoy cooking although I do not think I am very good at it. Science is the center of my life and I want to be able to educate as many people as I can about how it is actually used. Science and math can be very fun and with a little help anyone can come to understand them better.
