Hello, I am a tutor with a Master's in Education qualified to give students the academic support they need to succeed and be excited about learning. I use a whole-brain approach which uses different strategies to engage the body and make learning active and fun. My students are encouraged to drive their own learning through brainstorming, mind-mapping, actions, visual cues, chants and songs. I specialize in the following areas: Beginning through intermediate Spanish language -I have traveled in Central and South American countries, worked in a group-home for refugee, latino adolescents, and taught in a bilingual school in Mexico. -I understand what it takes to learn a new language as well as the benefits of being able to communicate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Elementary-College Academic Writing--Research papers, creative writing, essays, and cover letters -I have studied creative writing in Italy, written myriads of research papers and essays, written and edited grant proposals and cover letters. -I walk students through the joyful process of brainstorming ideas, researching information, outlining key points, and writing and editing until they can be proud of their final project. Elementary-Middle School General Education -I have taught students in grades 1-6 and understand the milestones students must meet to be successful at each level. -For younger students, I encourage integration across subject areas by encouraging them to write about science and math as well as make connections between subject areas, to themselves and to the world around them. -With my students, I begin with assessments, a learning styles inventory, and goal-setting to ensure that they are self-directed and can measure their own success.
