My name is George. I obtained my B. S. in Chemistry from China. I got almost full score for each math test from grade 1 to grade 12, and I even got a great opportunity to go to the International Olympic Mathematics Camp. During the college, I had more than three years tutoring experience in China with subjects such as Math, Chemistry, English, Biology, and Physics. Then I moved to the United States and obtained a PhD degree in Chemistry. I also had numerous years of tutoring experience in NYC and CT for students from elementary to high school students. I helped them math and chemistry courses at different levels and test preparations, such as PSAT, SAT, ACT, etc. I will use my specific teaching philosophy to help you. As for Chemistry, I encourage students to understand the basic concepts instead of merely memorizing them. I also need to point out that it DO require time to memorize some simple facts, but as less as possible. I have a very solid educational background in mathematics. As for Math, two general approaches will be employed. First, I encourage students to convert words (especially word problems) into images (such as writing equations, drawing number lines, coordinate planes, etc.) to make sure that you understand the problems correctly and accurately. Second, I encourage students to use multiple methods to solve a problem at the beginning so that they can gradually be trained to explore the best method (not the simplest, though!) that be suitable for themselves.
