I'm Asa! I graduated from the University of Southern California and immediately got my start in test prep in 2006 with Princeton Review. A few years later I moved to Compass Education in Beverly Hills, and a few other boutique tutoring agencies. I am primarily independent and have been tutoring ISEE, HSPT, SAT and ACT for the past 14 years. I truly believe standardized tests do NOT measure overall intelligence but rather how well you work that particular system, and there are several techniques and tactics which go a long way towards beating the test. Though I specialize in standardized test prep, I do take academic students from time to time, and enjoy working with younger students up to high school seniors. My students have gone on to incredible schools such as Penn, USC. Northeastern, NYU, UCLA and Cornell to name a few. I know how competitive college admissions can be, and I impart as much knowledge as I can to my students to give them the best chances for success. I have seen hundreds of tests and codified several recurring question types. The SAT and ACT are tricky tests, but are also repetitive, so if you have tools in your toolkit to deconstruct these problems, a variation of the same problem is likely to emerge. Sometimes the hardest thing is to figure out what the question is asking, so I give students techniques to take that first step.
