Tutor in Fairhope, Alabama
After graduate school (focus on English as a language), I spent 10 years in college textbook publishing, developing successful text-series in Math, Chemistry, and Biology. In addition, the next 15 years were spent in management with some of the top companies in the technology space: IBM, Lotus Development Corporation, McAfee Associates, and FrontRange Solutions. This is quite pertinent in that I was responsible for the training and development of new and experienced sales and marketing professionals, in a most competitive market, software. Our clients were the largest global companies in the world, thus, we were required to be articulate in both the areas of technology and corporate governess. The performance of my organizations were measured both quantitatively and qualitatively, essentially revenue and individual successes and promotions. I was selected by my people to one of the top managers at Lotus, and subsequently created and conducted a "leadership" seminar for all of my peers. Another apex-experience was my participating in and completing the 4-year seminar: Education for Ministry (developed at Sewanee), which is the equivalent of the first year in an Episcopal seminary. I have also recently applied to teach with "TeachforAmerica." Finally, during the "Civil Rights Movement," I tutored young Black HS students at Miles College, Birmingham, AL. My bride and I are licensed Foster Parents.
