Bonjour! I'm Phoebe; a 24-year-old female professional private French teacher. Teaching and communicating are my passion: I love to make learning language personal, interesting, and fun for my students depending on their individual needs and personalities. American by birth, I finished high school in France and became fluent in the language, indistinguishable from native French speakers. I was awarded the "Diplôme approfondi de langue française" by the French Institute Alliance Française as a C2/fluent French speaker, the highest level. I went on to earn my Bachelors degree from one of the best French private schools (Sciences-Po Paris) which I effectuated entirely in French. Following that I taught primary school and nursery school full-time in a private school in Rennes, France; and am currently a substitute teacher at Friends Seminary in Manhattan within their language department. So, not only do I have a fluent nearly native level of French; I also understand innately the difficulties English speakers have acclimating to the language, as well as the infinite helpful links that exist between English and French which can serve as tools to assimilate French more completely. I work with students of all ages, and all levels. Since September, 2014 I have been working with students aged 11-17; ranging from AP level to a beginner with no French class in school who I am educating from the ground up. My students in classes have all seen marked improvements in their grades since the beginning of the year; for example, my AP student has gone from Ds in French in September to an A- average on her latest progress report (January).
