I am a former first grade teacher and current-day technical recruiter available on weekends to babysit, tutor, and/or provide both services together. Deeper dive into my background: While I enjoy my current profession, I retain a burning passion for working with children. I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a Master's in Education - Science Leadership, and taught first grade for five years in a Title 1 public school. Deeper dive into what I can provide: - Babysitting/basic childcare - Tutoring - Combination of aforementioned services - Embedding learning in fun, organic, informal ways as a babysitter Particularly strong tutoring areas/mantras: - Literacy/reading: My former classroom demographics included students whose needs ranged, diversely, from remedial to accelerated learning. Based on their needs, my differentiated instruction would range from teaching kids sound-letter relationships and phonemes to responding critically and enhancing their reading comprehension. - Other subjects: Similar differentiated approach applies. Example, in math: my differentiated instruction could range from teaching kids how to make one-to-one number association and count, to how to analyze word problems, to introducing multiplication, and so forth. - Self-efficacy and self-confidence: I believe in empowering kids from both a cognitive/academic perspective and an emotional/mental perspective. This type of empowerment includes helping kids to understand they can master anything and be anything they want to be. - Constructivist learning: Helping kids take ownership of their learning. This means instead of teaching or dispensing information to them, acting as a facilitator to their learning and helping them unlock their own problem-solving and other skills.
