I am a Mechanical Engineer, formerly working at a company that designed products for military and police. Currently I am teaching Engineering and Manufacturing at a local High School. Method of instruction is best done with some initial direct lecture while periodically checking for understanding via student involvement in working through presented examples. Further understanding is ensured via working on real-life or relatable problems and, as much as possible, reinforced through hands-on projects. I am a teacher, not a teller; for me it is better to get the wrong answer the RIGHT way, rather than the right answer the WRONG way. i.e. it is better to understand what one is doing, rather than mindlessly doing something robotically.
