I'm an
Individual
Instruction designed specifically for your child Hi! My name is Kiersten, and I am a teacher certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I want to engage students and make learning fun for them. Whether your child needs extra support to succeed in school or enrichment opportunities to be challenged outside of the classroom, I am here to lend a hand. School Subjects: Math English Reading Writing Spelling Social Studies Science Technology I have a passion for teaching. Even as a child, I would “play school,” teaching my stuffed animals everything that my teachers were teaching me. My love for sharing knowledge and motivating others led me to a career path in private education. My goal as a private teacher is to make learning meaningful and fun for children by using their interests to develop individualized lesson plans in subject areas in which they need added help or enrichment. With large class sizes, your child may not be receiving the individualized attention that he or she deserves! On the other hand, your child may not be challenged enough. I can develop a variety of enrichment activities to keep your child engaged and interested in learning. I provide the one-on-one attention your child deserves. Experience I gained experience in diverse settings with a variety of ages and students. My most recent teaching position was at St. Louise de Marillac School in Upper St. Clair, PA. At STL, I taught fifth grade English and spelling, and sixth grade social studies and religion. Prior to STL, I was employed by the Cyert Center for Early Education, a childcare facility located on Carnegie Mellon University’s campus. There, I cared for infants and toddlers, offering them learning experiences by providing them with a variety of developmentally age–appropriate materials to explore. Education I graduated from Duquesne University in May 2011. As a Duquesne alumnus, I have access to resources available at the Curriculum Center — a special section of the Gumberg Library for education majors. The Curriculum Center is full of educational storybooks, puppets, games, manipulatives, manuals, and more! It is a teacher’s heaven! These tools can be used to enhance the lessons I create for your child. Schedule My schedule is flexible! I am willing to work at hours that are convenient for you and your child. Pricing $25 per hour Monday through Friday $30 per hour Saturday or Sunday A $5 travel fee will be added if you are located more than 20 miles from my home.
