I graduated last year and got a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from University of Maryland, College Park. For my last two years at Maryland, I have been exploring my interest and passion in Microbiology and have been given the opportunity to volunteer in a faculty lab as a lab tech/assistant. I am extremely interested in Host-Pathogen interaction and protein ligands. My background in science has taught me the importance of understanding complex topics in small, manageable steps, as well as the importance of care and attention to detail. I tutored high school and college students over the past 3-4 years. During my undergrad years, I was a teaching assistant of several courses, including both science (biology laboratory) and non-science courses (psychology and counseling). I also tutored several college math courses: algebra, precalculus and trigonometry. Outside of my school works, I helped tutoring at the local Community Center where I taught English ( Writing, speaking and conversational) for immigrants whose English was not first language. Working with a wide range of age groups on a variety of subjects has given me many tools to help children learn. I enjoy working with students from of all levels of learning aptitude and find inspiration in the challenges and successes that each student can bring to the table. I am in the process of applying to Graduate school and looking for jobs in my Science field. While doing those, I am also interested in teaching and tutoring. What I love about teaching is that it is so rewarding to help students understand complicated ideas and problems. From there, students learn that they’re capable of more than they realized. Teaching and tutoring is all about getting to know the students and building their confidence in all areas, not just academics.
