Hello! I am offering private tutoring in music theory. I can tutor from beginning levels (music notation, intervals, scales, chords, inversions, etc.), intermediate levels (roman numeral analysis, secondary dominants, voice leading, chorale writing, form and structure, extended harmony, etc.), to advanced levels (Schenkerian analysis, contemporary techniques, etc.). I offer lessons in my home, where I have a music studio, or am happy to come to your house if preferred. My prices range from $25 per 30 minutes, $35 per 45 minutes, and $45 per hour. If you would like me to come to your home, an additional $5 will be added to the cost of each session. A little bit about me - I recently received a Master's Degree in Music Composition from CSULB, and prior to this received a Bachelor's degree, also in Music Composition, from UCSB. While a graduate student at CSULB, I taught a music theory course (Basic Music Theory), and was also a Teaching Assistant for two additional music theory courses (Harmony 1-2). I have been a pianist for over 16 years, and have extensive experience in private lessons, ensemble playing, and performances. I have been teaching private lessons in piano for over 6 years. Along with being a pianist, my background as a composer has granted me unique insights and a solid background with music. I specialize in contemporary classical composition, but also score for media, collaborate with other artists, write jazz and pop music, and write indie and ambient electronic music as a solo artist. I have written for professional ensembles such as Gnarwhallaby, HOCKET, Veda Quartet, Friction Quartet, and the Southern California Brass Consortium.
