Cell biology and microbiology teaching/lab assistant for two semester at University at Buffalo. Tutored med-surg nursing, nursing fundamentals, physical assessment, and pharmacology at Concordia College. I have a passion for nursing and biological sciences. I enjoy discussing and sharing my knowledge of the subject with others. My goal in tutoring is to help my clients become mindful of what they know and don't know. This approach allows the client and I to place more emphasis on areas of weakness during study sessions. Another studying technique I wish to teach my clients is active reading. Unlike passive reading, where the reader is merely reading the word off the page, active reading requires the reader to be more engaged with the material. While reading, the reader is constantly asking him or herself, "why?". "Why is this information important?" "How can I apply this information to a real life situation?" "What could happen if I did this, instead of this?" This way of studying helps develop critical thinking skills which can help a student understand the rationale behind a correct and incorrect answer. Courses completed as an undergraduate at University at Buffalo: Organic chemistry General chemistry Biochemistry Cell biology Evolutionary biology Anatomy Physiology Physics Nutrition Microbiology Statistics Courses completed as a nursing student at Concordia College: Nursing fundamentals Medical-surgical nursing Physical assessment Pharmacology Maternity pediatrics Psych I am willing to present my credentials upon request. Hobbies/Interests: I'm a huge sports fan. Football is my favorite. I played football all through high school and college. My favorite team is the Giants. They had a down season this year but I'm confident they will be back on top next season. I love to work out. The squat rack is one of my spiritual spaces. I'm a political junkie and enjoy keeping up with current events, both foreign and domestic.
