Helping people is not considered a job for me; I consider it happiness. Throughout college I was blessed with working at Sylvan Learning Center, and became instantly attached to the learning needs of children. As a Math Tutor I planned and used appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflects understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. I also worked cooperatively with students to modify curriculum based on their special needs and their most comfortable way of learning; rewarded students with certificates, prizes, and most importantly, encouragement. I am now finished with my core courses through Region 13 and have passed the TExES certification test for Mathematics grades 4-8. I'm currently working on my own website, teacher portfolio, and teaching videos. A woman told me in Spanish one day, "It is in your blood to help people." That stayed with me ever since. No matter if it's child care or education or whatever it may be, helping people is my ultimate satisfaction.
