22-year-old, professional, full-time honors student at Holyoke Community College (HCC) studying Liberal Arts & Sciences looking to tutor middle school, high school and college students in topics related to liberal arts and social sciences. I will be graduating this December with my Associate of Arts degree, and then transfering to UMass Boston's Honors College to double major in communications and philosophy & public policy. Below you will find a list of courses/subjects I can tutor in, my avaialablity and qualifications. As both a student and aspiring educator (I plan on becoming a high school history teacher), I am looking forward to tutoring students as the new school year kicks into full gear. Subjects: • American/U.S. National Government (AP, Honors, other advanced levels included) • American History (AP, Honors, other advanced levels included) • Women/Gender Studies • Civil Liberties • Comparative Politics • Topics in Political Science/Introduction to Political Science • Sociology (Intro level and beyond) • Western Civilization • Introduction to Education courses Availablity: I am available Monday-Friday after 3pm, and open all day on Saturday and Sunday. Looking to take clients who can meet in the Downtown Northampton area (at a local coffee shop, the Northampton Public Library, or your place). Additionally, I can meet at Holyoke Community College (weekdays only). My Qualifications: • 3.907 GPA at Holyoke Community College • Deans List • On track to graduate as a "Commonwealth Honors Scholar" (meaning with 9 honors credits) • Passed American Government CLEP exam as of August of 2014 • 6 years of experience working with youth in athletic settings (coaching), non-profit settings and academic settings-classroom volunteer, library volunteer, program coordinator, etc • 3 years of experience working in Washington, D.C. on public policy issues on the federal & state/local level • Political Campaign experience • Completed education field hours during the Spring 2014 semester at Northampton High School in an AP US History class where I observed classroom instruction, and also worked alongside the teacher to assist students with creating project/paper outlines, developing analytical reading/research skills and working to build the necessary skills to succeed in an AP course. • Relevant completed college coursework- all with a grade of an A (unless otherwise noted): Introduction to Sociology, Topics in Political Science, US National Government, State and Local Government, Sociology of Sex & Gender, Race and Ethnicity, Introduction to Women's studies (currently in progress), College Composition II* (received a grade of a B), History of World War II, History of Western Civilization II, and Urban Sociology ~REFERENCES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST~ Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in scheduling tutoring sessions, or have any questions. ~Best, Bryce C.
