As a tutor with a decade of experience in writing and editing, I'm confident that I can guide/coach/instruct you through writing with a strong measure of respect, patience, and understanding for your work. In my years as an independent tutor alone, I've had more than 200 hours of lesson time with 18 different students. While working at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), I saw dozens more on a regular basis. If asked, these students would consistently tell you that I'm always prompt, courteous, and thorough in my instruction and feedback when it comes to writing. My areas of tutoring expertise include formal and academic writing, creative fiction and nonfiction, grammar, literary criticism, and PSAT/SAT/ACT preparation. I especially have a passion for assisting ESL/ELL students and those with learning disabilities that affect reading/writing comprehension. I'm also very familiar with offering guidance in the use of APA, Chicago, MLA, AMA, AP, and Harvard styles. I earned my Bachelor's in English from UCCS with a minor in Communication. Aside from my academic background, I also have experience in professional writing and administrative roles, including ten years as a web and print editor for various companies, two years as a senior research fellow, and more recent roles as an independent writing tutor and research specialist. For several semesters, I also worked as a consultant for the Writing Center at UCCS. I offer tutoring both in-person and online.
