I am a Sarasota County teacher specializing in elementary foundation skills, both Math and Language Arts. I have extensive experience working with children identified with varying exceptionalities including learning disabilities and developmental delays. As such, I am able to meet your child’s specific needs through a variety of learning modalities. • Basic homework help $15/hour • Tutoring to remediate specific academic needs (includes material preparation both for our session and activities you can use to help your child with throughout the week for optimal success. Also includes assessment to identify specific areas of need during initial visit and collaboration with classroom teacher if given permission by the parent) $30 hour Qualifications: B.S. Speech-Language Pathology, M.A. Teaching, currently pursuing Doctoral degree in Education specializing in Reading. Certified Teacher in Florida (K-6 and Early Childhood Ed PreK-2nd) with endorsements in ESOL, ESE, and PreK ESE. A basic understanding of Spanish to help bridge learning for ESOL students. Experience specific to ACT Prep: • Coursework in Medical Transcription which gave me a wealth of knowledge in suffixes, prefixes, and root word identification-key in the ACT testing for proper word knowledge assessment. • Math competency through Calculus, minor in Biology, college Physics and Chemistry • Linguistics training in Speech-Language Pathology courses for proper sentence structure and grammatical rules. • Both of my own boys are in the Gifted programs at their schools. Although they are smart kids, a great deal of this is also due to the support they are given at home for optimal academic growth. ACT Prep rate: $30/hr This rate does include lesson/material planning on my own time and analysis of periodic assessment to continue progressing these students towards success. Students will be provided with “bolstering activities” that can help them practice skills independently throughout the week between tutoring sessions. After school hours and weekends available.
