Even if you fall on your face, you are still moving forward :Victor Kiam February, 2016 To Whom It May Concern : It is my privilege to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you. I blend 20 years' experience as an educator with freshness of a young graduate with a permanent home in the pastures of education with the Halton District School Board. I am a passionate, highly motivated educator committed to promoting a diverse and democratic learning environment for all students. My extensive experiences with students of all age groups, have allowed me to develop an appreciation for diversity, which is now an integral component of my teaching philosophy. Each experience has exposed and propelled me to discover my potential. My years as a young recruit --...) in the exciting world of teaching and my diverse extra-curricular roles brought me in contact with a lot of eager kids, while programming social / educational events and seminars for a diverse group of junior/intermediate/senior students, as well as staff members. Together with them, I chiselled their creative potential. It was always a joy to find one of their writings ‘published’. I was also responsible for implementing the school’s policies while acting as a mentor for these students. This position pushed my creative edge farther than I thought possible, as it was this experience, which taught me how to educate others in an interactive and inclusive manner. My valuable experience as volunteer at a local Halton school taught me a lot about the interior ‘culture and climate’ of Canadian schools. It was here that I got a life boost as the staff at Sheridan Public School helped me understand the dynamics of Canadian education. My Supply Teaching at Rotherglen School, Oakville showed me the world of separate schools in Canada. The ESL summer school job with the Peel Board offered me an opportunity to apply my skills and experience as a newcomer to what the immigrant students needed. The EA role for 8 years offered me a great deal of understanding about the diverse needs of Special Needs students, a more intimate interaction with complex disorders like autism, cerebral palsy, speech impairments, ODD/OCD and Aspberger’s Syndrome, to name some. I had the opportunity to successfully apply that experience as a SERT-LTO in 2010 and my passion for working with children really flourish. Been exposed to children who with a variety of physical and learning needs, and also deeply motivated by my passion to learn and try new things...I have thus, learned the importance of differentiated instruction. This valuable experience has created a desire in me to continue my professional development in different areas of Education. I value the sense of dedication needed in order to create a ripple effect in the lives of my students. It is my aim to set clear expectations which foster a learning-conducive atmosphere that encourages experiential learning, collaboration and individual expression. If in June 2011 I felt I added a feather to my cap with the LTO position as a Grade 6 teacher.... in September 2012 I feel I hit a jackpot of an opportunity with the FDK position at Escarpment View to really blossom as a teacher with the HDSB and flourish my various talents and skills. My current role at Escarpment View Public School is very enriching and exciting, as I feel passionate about programme with its play-based approach while still adhering to the curriculum. Its like thinking and working outside the box.. Now, more than ever, it is known that playing and learning are not separate entities. As a teache, I feel that it is crucial that children enjoy their learning process to establish a strong foundation for learning for the future. I also believe that children need to have a safe and caring learning environment in which to experience complete learning. A positive start to a child’s education is essential for their life long achievement. I believe that my experience as a kindergarten teacher will make me an asset to the programme. As one of the educators in your programme, I will use my enthusiasm and creativity to assist students, utilizing my collaborative experience when working in a teaching partnership to support them in a welcoming learning environment. As part of the programme, I will place great emphasis on personal and social development of each child. I feel it is important to provide a balanced literacy program, as children need to see themselves as effective communicators. Combining these ideas and the strengths of both educators, will help students experience a comfortable transition from school to tutoring as appropriate. My extensive work history and active teaching in the HDSB have not only allowed me to cultivate my organization and communication skills, but have also taught me how to effectively work independently and as part of team. I feel that I can make a creative, energetic and positive contribution to your work community, which values teamwork, collaborative decision- making and motivation. I know and believe I will be an asset to your programme. I have served across boards and countries, my positive experience has led me to favour communities enhanced with diversity. I will feel privileged to work for you as a teacher, a profession which was, is, and always will be my vocation. I admire the goals and initiatives of the HDSB and believe that my committment to high levels of achievement, inclusion and community within the classroom. I feel convinced that I am the most suitable candidate for the job posted and will be pleased to respond to any further questions in an interview. I can be contacted at 905-966-.... I feel excited to meet with you, and begin to implement all that I have learnt and will continue to learn through the course of my career in education. Sincerely, Anchita Liddle, OCT 2 Teach ( ) 2 Learn (=) 4 Success
