I am a Reading, Writing, & Phonics Tutor; Orton - Gillingham Certified. Specializing in the areas of dyslexia, ADD, & ADHD. The program I use focuses on five components essential for effective reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension. In addition children also learn: phonemes and morphemes, such as prefixes, suffixes, and roots. I introduce them to common spelling rules. The Orton Gillingham method is flexible enough to fit the needs of all types of learners since it is a multi-sensory approach incorporating auditory, kinesthetic and visual. This approach is not only beneficial to students with dyslexia, but to all students looking to improve their reading/writing skills. The way I put together my lessons are to meet the student where he/she is in the learning process and then work to bring the student forward.
