It is my belief that with patience, empathy, and understanding any child can learn. They say “if children can’t learn the way we teach then teach the way they learn”. This is completely possible 1-on-1. I help children to find their strengths and gifts and guide them in the use of these to teach them to develop skills and strategies that allow them to accommodate the areas in which they are currently challenged. I do this while teaching them the material they need to learn for academics. They learn to apply these strategies, that they develop, with guidance to learn specific material. These skills and techniques become lifelong learning strategies for them. As a mother, I know every child has unique and special needs. I work through those needs with them as a teacher in order to learn the material and social skills that will help them as they move on, not just in their education but also in their lives. As a teacher in Special Education for 27 years, I worked 1-on-1 or in small groups most of the time. Team members would comment on how empathetically and patiently I was working with the students. I just knew that was the best way to find the way that child learned. Find their successes, and there are always successes, and grow on them.
