As an adaptable and self-motivated trilingual professional, I would love to offer my services as a Spanish tutor to any student who needs to improve their Spanish skills, either verbally and/or for written homework. I hold a Master's Degree in Spanish and Translation Studies (2012), and I work as a freelance translator for various translation companies (translating and interpreting between Spanish, English and Danish on a daily basis). I have 4 years of experience teaching Spanish (as a tutor). I am originally from Denmark, but have spent most of the past 11 years living, working, studying and traveling first in various Spanish-speaking countries (Spain, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Chile, Nicaragua and Bolivia) and have lived in Austin, Texas since 2009. Having been exposed to bi- and trilingual occupations for so long has taught me the many advantages of multilingual and multicultural awareness and knowledge - qualities that I would love to promote through tutoring. From my personal experience, learning a second language requires a combination of different teaching approaches. To obtain a high level of fluency, the student needs different types of input in the form of both structured grammatical lessons and informal communicative acquisition of the language. Consequently, I focus not only on grammatical and structural instruction of Spanish, but also on communicative, culturally-oriented conversations, which leads to a more fluent result.
