Hi ! My name is Amanda, I have been tutoring elementary and highschool students since I began my University degree (HBSc Biology) 6 years ago. I recently moved to Vancouver from Northern Ontario in search of career opportunities within my field, while still hoping to find time to tutor. Through tutoring I've developed a passion for teaching and have considered attending school in Vancouver to become a teacher in 2017. If you are an outgoing student who is excited about school and eager to learn more, I think you will have a lot of fun being tutored by me ! If you are more of a shy student, who may be anxious, worried or apprehensive about school, I am the ideal tutor for you. I specialize in having kindness, patience and understanding for those who require that little bit of extra gentle-care, as most of my experience has been working with behaviourally challenged, underprivileged students. I am sure to monitor the students' behaviour every step of the way, to ensure they are enjoying and understanding while learning. I believe only in positive encouragement, and have seen break-through results from students who doubted themselves, and never considered they were capable of achieving such great academic goals, until someone reassured them and gave them the extra confidence they needed. I am actively seeking students in need of a tutor, and would be able to accommodate several hours per week for at-home or in-school sessions.
