Tutor in St. Louis, Missouri

I'm an
Individual
I'm a great tutor because tutoring is my passion. I have advanced cancer (I don't look or feel sick) and tutoring is my reason for getting up each day. I put a lot of time into my lesson plans, making each lesson interactive, fun, and exciting. I move my student from confusion to mastery of each skill. I build confidence and the student’s self-esteem as they master reading and writing on grade level. It's all very exciting. I think learning to read is the most important thing a child will master and the more often and more consistent we are able to meet, the better for your child. I hold a degree in Special and Elementary Education (K-8.) I've been a classroom teacher but most recently I've been tutoring for the past two years. I specialize in helping students that have Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and/or Dyscalculia (reading, writing and math and I'm trained in Orton-Gillingham, Spire, and Barton methods of teaching reading. I want to be flexible and make this as easy for the parent as possible. I raised three girls and I know how hard it is to fit another activity into a day full of school or camp, lessons, and play, while you work full time. The parents and I become a team, working for one purpose, and that's to help your struggling student, become someone that enjoys reading, writing, and math. I will come to your home, a public place like the library or book store, or the child's school. I charge $40.00 an hour.
