Hello. My name is Victoria and I am a graduate student at the University of Hawaii Manoa. My major is American Studies which incorporates reading, writing, speaking and communication skills. I am very well-equipped with helping students reach the next level of their education; whether it be studying for an exam and simply getting through homework. AS far as my own success, I graduated undergraduate with a 3.91 GPA and won Student of the Year in 2015. I love the hands on experience and watching the 'light bulb' go off when a child learns something new. As far as my background, I was a full-time tutor the past 4 years in California and won multiple awards. I worked with special education children most of the time but a select few times I tutored AP English and AP History. I am well-equipped to work with students from all backgrounds whether it be learning disabilities or a simple struggle with reading comprehension. During the past 4 years I was also a college athlete, so sometimes my athletic side and competitive side comes out during tutoring which is fun and creates a fun dynamic during the session. I enjoy making the student feel comfortable and often times have a laid back approach so that the student does not feel overwhelmed or ill-equipped. I love watching students grow as individuals and watch them excel through school. As far as scheduling, I am available on weekday evenings and available all weekends. I look forward to meeting your student very soon! I prefer tutoring on the UH Manoa campus but I am willing to commute a small distance to ensure that your child gets the help that they need.
