Do you need a tutor? I am excited to teach and I love to learn! I am a certified teacher in the state of Ohio. I graduated with BA in Education grades 1st-8th specializing in mathematics in December 1997. I have been teaching for over 17 years and enjoy every day of it. Over the years, I have taught preschool all the way up through college students. Usually, I have taught elementary math, Algebra I, Geometry and 1st-8th grade language arts, but I have taught all main subjects from grades k-12. I have ten years experience tutoring with one-on-one sessions. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been homeschooling students from 5th-9th grades in all subjects. I have been teaching these areas of math throughout my 17 years of experience. I have a real passion for math! I like to teach by doing a couple examples. Next, have the student walk through examples with me. Then, have the student do some on questions on their own. Finally, have the student explain their work if a math problem. Or, in other subjects, I have the student explain how they came to their conclusion. Sometimes I will have students give other examples that relate to the question. This demonstrates association which is key when learning new concepts. If a math session, I may even ask the student to create a math problem based on the new knowledge we worked on. This shows that they have mastered what was being taught. Over 10 years of my experience teaching, I have been involved with students between grades k-6th. During this time I have had many students that were behind in their grade level skill. By the end of the school year, most students tested above their grade level.
