I started playing the drums at the age of ten and have been playing for thirty-five years. I played snare drum and bass drum in symphonic band in junior high and high school. I played in the Drum and Bugle Corps while in the Air Force. We marched in parades and won several awards for excellence. I have played in three Christian bands and one rock band. I have also played drum kit and percussion in church for several years. I completed the Drum Set Fundamentals course with Berklee College of Music in 2012. I am currently playing for a Christian rock band and we play live at different venues in Central Florida. I am also the worship drummer for my church. This real world experience of playing with live musicians in different settings allows me to show students how to sound great and play skillfully when playing the drum kit. Along with being a member of this amazing group with Sabian Eductation, I am a member of the Professional Drum Teacher's Guild and the D'Addario Education Collective. I use many different resources to help my students understand how to play their first basic grooves and fills on the drumset. I encourage them to never stop learning and I demonstrate to them the passion that I have for playing and teaching the drumset. Being a musician is something that can be enjoyed for a lifetime and I do my best to inspire my students to continue growing and learning to reach their full potential.
