My credentials for this position includes experience in this area as a tutor in my home city assisting junior high, high school and university students. My background is as a senior level journalist with various freelance credits. When employed at newspapers and as a broadcast journalist, junior level staff were mentored in writing and the psychology of interviewing. Mount Royal College, which I attended as a mature student, employed me in a similar capacity, in addition to coaching journalism students. Since grammar and the method used to teach this subject is often confusing, a different system is used that was developed by an instructor at Red Deer College: grammar can be learned by asking eight to nine questions that identifies each figure of speech. The method makes comprehension so much easier. As a college and university student, various methods were developed to enhance factual retention and reduce the amount of time required for writing exams.
