I'm an
Individual
Calculus I, II, and III, Pre-Calculus, Probability and Statistics, 2D/3D Geometry and Trigonometry, Algebra, Pre-Algebra, Linear Algebra, ACT/SAT math prep, Differential Equations, and Physics (Mechanics). I am a Ph.D. student in the Structural Engineering Dept. at UCSD, having also completed my B.S. in Structural Engineering at UCSD in 2015 (magna cumlaude). Teaching is something I have always been passionate about. Below, I have summarized my experience. If you are unsure whether I can tutor a course I have not mentioned above, contact me and we can discuss! Contact me via text or phone call at (630) 20..., or email at [email protected]. If you contact via email, make sure to put "TUTOR" in the subject line so I don't miss you! Experience: Throughout my time in graduate school, I have served as the head teaching assistant for 3 undergraduate courses and 2 graduate courses in the Structural Engineering Dept., combining for 250 hours of experience teaching one-on-one. My students have ranged from undergraduate freshmen through M.S. and Ph.D. students, including domestic and international students, which has required me to adapt my style and approach to effectively teach a group of students coming from a variety of backgrounds, native tongues, and ability levels. My one-on-one sessions tend to focus an estimated 75% on help with homework, with the other time devoted to review of fundamental concepts and practice problems for test preparation. The students I teach are asked to anonymously review me at the end of each quarter. 80% of my evaluations (86 total over 5 courses) have reviewed me as ‘excellent,’ the highest rating on a 5-point rating system. Many have regarded me as the best teaching assistant they have ever had, highlighting both my personal qualities (particularly my patience, kindness, approachability, and down-to-earth nature) and professional ones (my clarity, ability to be thorough yet concise, organization of lessons, and excellent command over the coursework). In more than a few instances, I have had students inform me I was the sole reason they passed the class. Last but not least, I was a tutor in my last two years of high school and throughout college (6 years of experience), tutoring middle school and high school students in mathematics and science, and college freshmen and sophomores in calculus I, II, and III, differential equations, and linear algebra. Many of the college students were repeat customers in subsequent semesters.
