After many years of trying to learn French I became very serious about learning the language about 5-6 months ago. My goal is to become proficient to the point that I can use my language skills for business and also move to Paris for period of time. I found that Amadou's class and teaching methods were very useful to me because it cleared up my many grammar issues. I have always been an average to above average student but when I hear the words "verbs", "participle", "past participle", "pluperfect", "gerund" etc, I zone out. If I had not learned what those terms are/meant in English then there is no way that I would/will learn them in another language. But... In Amadou's class I did! It all made sense. He teaches the reasoning behind the concepts. What I really liked about his class was the opportunity and encouragement to write! Although it was very difficult for me and it did take me a lot of time, it helped me a great deal in building my confidence regarding my knowledge of the language. It was very tempting to cheat (using an online translator) or resort to a dictionary. But, I was determined not to do that. My writing is all from memory and the many, many, drills that I have done. That is why I can look at a french sentence and "feel" that something does not look right. But now in understanding the grammar much better I'm learning why the sentence isn't correct. I highly recommend him as a teacher. He is patient, efficient, and quite good with teaching the holistic angle of a concept.

I had the great fortune of having Amadou as my French teacher. His lessons are methodical and super well prepared, with plenty of examples and well-explained grammar concepts. I had zero background in the language, and now I'm able to write short stories thinking in French (not translating!). He’s passionate about teaching, and that translates into unique classes that blend language learning with fun anecdotes, cultural tips, history, and philosophy. Thanks, Amadou!
