Hello! My name is Karen Heller Stone and I am a retired special education teacher. I have been teaching children and adolescents how to achieve for over 40 years and it is still magic for me. I teach at the client's house or mine. I offer a free consulting session . I can tell where a student’s strengths and weaknesses are and then proceed in a fashion that supports and strengthens the student’s learning profile. I am certified in moderate special needs and I am Orton Gillingham Reading approved . I am able to administer educational tests in order to identify learning issues as well as create a comprehensive report. I have been teaching both privately and within the public school systems. I enjoy contacting the school and keeping parents in the loop about the child’s successes. My students improve since I am talented at improving skills and going about achieving success in any area. Even though my specialty is in teaching reading, language arts and writing/spelling, I also have had successs teaching math from preschool to Algebra. Since math was difficult for me as a child I can identify break downs and proceed to show children how to unlock questions and provide answers by using multi sensory teaching, either one sense at a time or integrating modalities- all according to the individual’s needs.
