Tutor in Pensacola, Florida

I tutor students at the elementary level. My keen interest is in reading and phonics, but teach other areas, too. I also tutor beginning logic. I have 18 years experience teaching in the lower elementary grades at Pensacola Christian School (now Academy). I was a librarian at Pensacola Christian College library for 19 years. I am now retired with my home based tutoring business. I have been tutoring since 2011. I have worked with several students who just needed help. But I have tutored considerably with ADHD students and other students with learning disabilities. My students have been from kindergarten to sixth grade. I love to read. Teaching reading with extensive phonics or with a progressive approach or a combination of both is what I have worked with the most. But I also have worked with math subjects and beginning logic. While I have a basic approach, each student and lesson is customized according to each individual. I have various worksheets, teaching aids, and computer activities that are used when needed. Because of a need to be fragrance free, students come to my home for each session. Students must be fragrance free themselves. Parents are welcome to stay during the sessions, if they wish. I frequently make suggestions for parents to help students at home. The first lesson is an evaluation that I do and lasts anywhere from 30 tp 45 minutes. I do wish parents to be there during that lesson. This lesson is free. Lessons are available only at and after 4:00 in the afternoon, Mondays-Fridays. I will do early evening sessions and on Saturday afternoons. I am unable to tutor during the days because of a student I home school.
