Jimmy Maio is a Fairfax VA resident passionate about education. Jimmy attended the University of Virginia after graduating with a perfect GPA from Northern Virginia Community College. He tutors math and English. In addition to tutoring, he also works as an impact investment researcher. As a tutor and mentor at the University of Virginia, I worked with students of all backgrounds in math (pre-algebra, algebra I and algebra II, and geometry), writing, and reading. The goal is for students to master core concepts and not regurgitate memorized facts. I teach students creative solutions and new methods of solving problems that can be applied to more advanced topics. I taught and mentored students through Mentor for Kids and Congregation Beth Israel. There, I learned to simplify problems and allow students to learn core concepts. I love to engage students with questions and new problems. I work with all types of elementary to high school students. I look to deduce little problem areas that are unique to every student. From there, I create a personalized tutoring plan unique to your child. I am a psychology graduate with a passion for helping others. My goal is to bring out the best in students. I want to help provoke interests and discover passions. With proper support, I believe there is nothing that a student cannot do.
