Tutor in Washington, District of Columbia

I'm an
Individual
M.S., Applied Physics, Columbia University B.A., Physics, Bard College Prior to becoming an independent tutor, I tutored for the Bard Academic Resources Center providing one-on-one tutoring to other Bard students. The one-on-one time with my professors at Bard was a hugely positive influence on my undergraduate education, which included their willingness to explore a topic from different angles until we hit on one that made sense to me. I enjoy having the opportunity to provide a similarly positive impact on other people's education. While getting my MS I took physics courses through the 6000/800... graduate level. My math background includes Calculus I-III, statistics, and both ordinary and partial differential equations. I feel that what distinguishes me as a tutor is the fact that I entered college to do political studies before switching majors to physics, and that my tutoring is thus improved by my ability to directly empathize with the difficulties that my students are facing in math and physics. Right now I am a researcher Washington, DC-area think tank. Prior to this, I spent the spring 2012 semester continuing the research I did in the Columbia HBT-EP plasma physics lab during the fall 2011 semester.
