I'm an
Individual
As an experienced Humanities educator, and having a first hand knowledge of the issues that confront today's students, my sessions are aimed towards assisting clients in overcoming real or imagined resistance to achieving success. I am both the product of the public school system as well as a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy '98, and Brown University '03, with a B.A. in Religious Studies and an M.A. in English. I am steeped in the Humanities, having worked in schools and learning environments characterized by technological immersion and coordinated pedagogical approaches. I am experienced with multiple skill levels, a variety of age ranges, and in the facilitation of student's growth in all core areas of English and the Humanities, with a focus on the cultivation of basic skills like analytical writing. More specifically, my sessions promote student progress in areas such as analytical writing, close reading, critical thinking, guidance through the writing process, and the development of effective study skills and work habits. Through an approach that synthesizes intuition, pattern recognition, rigorous attention to core basic skills (i.e. reading, annotation, critical and creative thinking, written and verbal communication), and a sensitive holistic approach tailor-made to the needs of each individual, I strive to assist clients in developing a sense of their innate abilities. In addition, our sessions directly promote an awareness of what clients need to help them develop these abilities in a sustaining and organic way. Known for being an innovative, academically rigorous, effective, and passionate teacher, I am myself a lifelong learner who strives continually to improve in the very areas that I teach.
